Davido raises global awareness over abducted Oyo schoolchildren

In a separate development, the singer recently drew global attention to the abduction of school children and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State during his performance at the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

The singer wore a customised jacket displaying the names of the 39 abducted children and their seven teachers. On the back of the outfit, he boldly wrote the message: “Bring Them Home.”

During his performance of his hit song Fall, Davido repeatedly showcased the jacket, using the moment to highlight the plight of the abducted victims and call for their safe return.

This is not the first time the singer has spoken out on the incident, as he had earlier urged relevant authorities on social media to ensure the victims are rescued without delay, stressing that the rising insecurity in the country must be urgently addressed.

Backstory…

Davido’s latest release comes only few day after the singer traded words with Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri on X.

Reno had earlier attributed the delay in his resumption in Mexico to the ongoing World Cup tournament.

In response, Davido criticised the former presidential aide online, using a now-viral remark in which he wrote, “Umu Bingo @renoomokri fowl.”

Reacting to the comment, Reno described the singers post as feedback but said the tone was shocking.
