Senator Dino Melaye, a former Kogi congressman, has stated that he will defeat President Bola Tinubu in a legitimate election, emphasising that supporting a united opposition candidate is his first priority.
In a conversation with Seun Okinbaloye on the Mic On Podcast, Melaye attacked the current administration and expressed faith in other contenders.

“My brother, anybody among those interested in presidency in ADC would do one million times better than Tinubu. They can never be a worse president than Tinubu,” he said.
While speaking about his personal prospects, the former senator said that he could remove the president through an open procedure.
“Me, Dino Melaye. Let’s go on a free and fair election,” he stated.
“I will beat him flat in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Despite his optimism, Melaye stated that maintaining a united front against the current regime is more important to him than pursuing personal goals.
He said “My own for now is that we must send Tinubu away. Whoever emerges from consensus or from a primary, I will support,” he said.
Additionally, he claimed that the President might be unwilling to permit a legitimate election process.
Dino Melaye denied rumours of shared tickets during coalition talks, stating that national interest is the top priority.

He further raised concerns over administration were also voiced by the former MP, who said that non-elected people, especially Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, had undue influence.
Melaye added that opposition leaders are already planning for upcoming elections, emphasising that cooperation will be essential to accomplishing their objective.
