The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered the nationwide deployment of police personnel and operational resources to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration across Nigeria.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP extended Sallah greetings to Muslims nationwide and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property throughout the festive period.
He directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders in all state commands, including the Federal Capital Territory, to strengthen security operations and adopt proactive policing strategies within their jurisdictions.
According to the statement, the security plan includes the deployment of tactical units, intelligence officers, and regular police personnel to Eid prayer grounds, highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other crowded public locations expected to witness heavy movement during the celebration.

The police also disclosed plans to intensify visibility policing, coordinated patrols, surveillance activities, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations aimed at preventing crime and ensuring swift response to security threats.
Olatunji Disu urged Nigerians to remain security conscious and support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and useful information, stressing that public cooperation is vital to maintaining peace during the festivities.
He further encouraged citizens to report suspicious individuals, objects, or activities around public gathering places, noting that credible information could help avert security breaches.
The Nigeria Police Force assured residents of adequate security presence nationwide and reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
