Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has called for the arrest of Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the alleged release of Nollywood actor Emeka Ike’s personal details obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) database.
Isaac Fayose made the remarks in a video shared on X, where he expressed concern about what he described as declining respect for the rule of law in the country.
He questioned why no action had been taken against Olayinka, insisting that in a properly governed society, he should have been prosecuted for the alleged breach.
“We were all here a few weeks ago when Lere Olayinka, an aide to Wike, posted Emeka Ike’s details from INEC records. Up till now, no action has been taken against him, and he is still walking free. In a lawful country, Lere would have been in jail by now,” he said.
Fayose further argued that issues such as banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism have persisted because of what he described as a weak justice system and unequal application of the law.
Meanwhile, Emeka Ike had earlier expressed concern over his personal data exposure, saying it left him feeling unsafe for the first time.
The actor has since filed a lawsuit against INEC and Lere Olayinka over the alleged unauthorised disclosure of his voter registration information.
