Ajebo Sparks Debate Over RCCG Members After Pastor Adeboye’s Viral Video

Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has once again sparked conversations online. In a viral video, Adeboye attributed Nigeria’s stable exchange rate to divine intervention.

He boldly stated that without God’s grace, the naira could have plunged to ₦10,000 per dollar. This statement triggered mixed reactions across social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter).

Influencer Ajebo Danny joined the conversation with a controversial take.

He tweeted about his skepticism towards RCCG members, claiming their association with Pastor Adeboye impacts their decision-making skills. Ajebo revealed that he has started questioning job candidates about their church affiliation during interviews.

“I’ve started asking my potential employees if they attend RCCG during job interviews because there’s no way I can trust you to make good decisions if Adeboye is your pastor,” he tweeted.

This bold statement quickly went viral, stirring debates among Nigerians. Some supported Ajebo’s stance, while others criticized him for mixing religious beliefs with professional matters.

One user, DaNn_Snr, disagreed with Ajebo, tweeting, “It’s not fair to bring religion into employment. Not everyone agrees with what their pastor preaches.” Another user, Jaysings001, sided with the influencer, sharing, “I just ended talks with a potential girlfriend because she is a die-hard RCCG member.”

Others were equally vocal. Chimacoeche added, “There’s no way I will trust anyone from that church.” These comments reflect the heated conversations Pastor Adeboye’s remarks and Ajebo’s response have ignited.

Meanwhile, Adeboye’s followers continue to stand by his statement, viewing it as a testament to God’s work in Nigeria. However, critics argue that such religious claims are out of touch with the country’s economic realities.

The debate has not only highlighted the growing intersection between religion and public discourse but also raised questions about biases in hiring practices.

Ajebo’s tweet may have been intended as humor, but it has sparked serious discussions about tolerance, professionalism, and the role of faith in personal and professional decisions.

As the discourse continues, one thing is clear: Nigerians have no shortage of opinions when it comes to matters of faith and leadership.
