‘We are not on same level’ – Kcee responds to Flavour
Nigerian singer, Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, better known as Kcee, has responded to the plagiarism accusations by fellow singer and colleague Chinedu Okoli known professionally as Flavour.
You may recall that Flavour recently shaded an unidentified person for allegedly copying his musical style, on a post he shared on his X (formerly twitter) handle on Monday 28th, 2024.
The recent accusation from Flavour is believed to be because the singer Kcee recently transitioned from being an Afropop singer to an Igbo-highlife singer like Flavour.
While Flavour did not mention any names in his post, it didn’t take long for fans and observers to figure out that he was indirectly referring to Kcee. It also didn’t take Kcee long to respond, confirming the speculation that the shade was directly Kcee.
The singer Kcee, also responded via the same platform, directly calling Flavour out and saying that he (Flavour) was not on his level and that he should choose his battles wisely.
Kcee also advised Flavour against attempting to gate-keep Igbo indigenous music, saying that he (Kcee) was in the music business before him (Flavour).
On his X handle, Kcee wrote, “Bro, We are not on the same level. Pick your battles carefully.
“Stop trying to gatekeep Igbo culture. You’re not a Custodian.
“I’ve been in this game before you
“It belongs to all.
“You dont own this genre of music.
“My music celebrates our heritage, and I won’t apologize.
“In an ocean of things that matter. You’re like a needle.
“Get that right
“People recognize authenticity. I’ll continue celebrating our culture unapologetically. Spend your energy on success, not diminishing mine.”
