Residents of Otukpo, Benue State, have taken to the streets to express their anger over the incessant of killings and kidnappings in the area.
Reports gathered reveal that the protesters blocked major roads, demanding urgent action from the government urgently look into rising insecurity issues in the state, further calling on security agencies to address the growing challenge in Benue.

One of the protesters identified as Daniel Oche, spoke about the continuous attacks, adding that electricity is always cut off in the community before each attack.
He said “This has been happening again and again. We are not safe in our own homes. And have you noticed? NEPA (JEDC) always takes light before every operation. It’s like they don’t want us to see what’s coming,”

The protest comes after a series of brutal attacks that plaguing Otukpo community, causing widespread displacement, tension and fear with some residents fleeing their homes.

The protesters revealed that despite the escalating crisis, security personnel have not been deployed to Otukpo.
