Speed Darlington Granted Bail as Cubana Chief Priest Steps In
Popular Nigerian singer Darlington Achakpo, professionally known as Speed Darlington, has reportedly been arraigned in court and granted bail.
The lawyer of the singer, Deji Adeyanju, revealed this on Wednesday, saying that the court granted the singer’s bail application when the police finally arraigned him in court on Wednesday. He was granted a N20 million bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Justice Ekerete Akpan gave the order in a ruling on the bail application moved by his lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, after he pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge bordering on alleged cybercrime.

He mandated that the surety must be a Level 10 civil servant, reside in Abuja, and provide an affidavit of means.
The judge instructed Speed Darlington to surrender his international passport and directed both the surety and the defendant to submit two recent passport-sized photographs to the court registrar.
Subsequently, the judge ordered Speed Darlington to be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre until his bail conditions are met.
Adeyanju wrote, “Police finally arraigns Speed Darlington in court. Bail application moved and granted. We are trying to perfect same.”
Speed Darlington was first arrested in October 2024 on allegations of defamation and cyberstalking Burna Boy. The singer was arrested in Lagos and taken to Abuja, where he was detained by the IGP’s intelligence response team in the Guzape area of the city.
He was rearrested in November while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, days after he returned to the country following his release from police custody.
The development comes days after popular socialite Pascal Okechkwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, promised to help Speed Darlington get out of prison amid his beef with singer Burna Boy.
