Superstar” by Wizkid: 13 Years of Timeless Tracks.
Thirteen years ago, Wizkid released his debut album, “Superstar,” marking his breakthrough in the music industry. Starting his musical journey at eleven, Wizkid first released a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he formed with church friends. In 2009, he signed with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) and released “Holla at Your Boy” in 2010, the lead single from “Superstar.” This track earned him the Next Rated award at The Headies in 2011, along with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
“Holla at Your Boy” blended American R&B with Nigerian influences, becoming Wizkid’s first major hit. The “Superstar” album showcased his versatility, combining contemporary Nigerian pop with Western elements. Other notable tracks include “Pakurumo,” “Love My Baby,” and “Don’t Dull.”
This morning, Wizkid expressed his gratitude on X (formerly Twitter) for the 13th anniversary of his album, writing: “13 yrs since superstar! First album! Thankful for all Gods blessings. Healthy family! Blessed life! Love God ❤️ 🦅.”
