Youths thrilled by EFCC’s 5% incentive for reporting naira abuse.
To combat naira abuse, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has introduced a 5% reward for whistleblowers providing credible information leading to prosecutions. EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale announced this on the EFCC 97.3FM Abuja talk show, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to upholding the law and protecting the economy.
Oyewale highlighted that the reward aims to encourage whistleblowers to report naira abuse, stating, “There’s a reward if you report anyone spraying the Naira. The whistleblowing act offers 5% reward of whatever amount is involved to whoever offers credible information.”
The EFCC has already secured nearly 50 convictions related to naira abuse and dollarization, reinforcing the message that rejecting the naira as legal tender is a criminal offense. Oyewale stressed the importance of the naira, saying, “The naira is the symbol of our economy. Every transaction in Nigeria must be done in naira.”
