“We sold Malik Kareem’s head and legs to a woman at Ibadan market for N70,000.”
Muhammad Adekunle, a suspected serial ritual killer, has confessed to a gruesome crime involving the sale of human body parts. Adekunle, along with other conspirators, killed 14-year-old Malik Kareem on August 7, 2024, and sold his head and legs to a female trader at Oje Market in Ibadan for N70,000.
During a press briefing on August 16, 2024, Commissioner of Police CP Ayodele Sonubi detailed the suspects’ actions. Adekunle and his accomplices had previously murdered Adekola Sodiq in January 2024, severing his head and legs to sell to other traders.
A search conducted on August 11, 2024, at the suspects’ homes led to the discovery of fresh human flesh, which Adekunle admitted was from Malik Kareem. Further investigation revealed the presence of mutilated bodies in a dry well at Adekunle’s compound.
In connection with the case, suspects Muniru Salawudeen, Rashidat Akanji, Ismail Olalekan, and Obaleye Sanmi have been arrested. They confessed to purchasing human parts from Adekunle for money rituals.
The police investigation has uncovered three unidentified bodies in the well, which are now at the State Hospital Morgue for autopsy and preservation.
