Popular Nigerian actress Yvonne Jegede reveals why she cut her hair for a movie part (Video)
For her part in the upcoming film “AJA,” well-known Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has taken a risk by shaving her long, natural hair. After ten years of taking care of her hair, Jegede said that this choice is a big shift for her.
Yvonne Jegede revealed her makeover on Instagram on Sunday, April 27, 2024, stating that shaving her hair was necessary to really inhabit her role in the movie.
“Even if it means stepping outside of your comfort zone, I’ve always felt that in order to tell a tale truly, you have to be willing to give it your best.
I decided to cut my hair for my upcoming film
, “AJA,” based on this concept. Although it wasn’t a simple choice, I felt that it was essential to completely inhabit the role that I’ve been given,” she wrote.
She went on to explain that she needed “a physical transformation that would connect me even deeper with the character” in addition to language and feelings.
Jegede underlined that she has an unending commitment to her art and is prepared to push the envelope in order to produce exceptional performances.
For the sake of the narrative, she continued, “cutting my hair was about letting go of my comfort and accepting a new aspect of myself, not just about changing how I looked. As an actor, I’ve always thought you have to be prepared to push limits, and this position is undoubtedly helping me achieve that. She went on to explain that she needed “a physical transformation that would connect me even deeper with the character” in addition to language and feelings.

The actress disclosed that she is learning how to speak appropriate Yoruba in addition to shaving her head for the film.
“I’m too passionate about my work to take chances. If the script calls for it, I will go to any lengths to make the tale come to life since I regard myself as a tool to deliver the right message.
Aside from this significant shift,I’m learning how to write in appropriate Yoruba,” she wrote.
