Explosive: Nyesom Wike afraid of his own shadow – Ememobong makes controversial allegation

Factional National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ini Ememobong, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of engaging in actions that undermine constitutional rights and the rule of law.

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Ememobong stressed that Nigeria’s democracy is built on the principle of the rule of law, adding that no public office holder has unlimited authority.

He argued that neither the FCT Minister Wike nor the President has the power to override the fundamental rights of citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution.

According to him, Nigerians retain the right to own property, associate freely, and hold peaceful gatherings irrespective of their political affiliation. He also noted that even unregistered political groups are constitutionally permitted to meet peacefully.

The PDP chieftain maintained that any attempt to restrict such freedoms would violate the Constitution and weaken Nigeria’s democratic system.

He further suggested that moves to limit political meetings or associations reflect unnecessary fear, alleging that Wike appears “afraid of his own shadow.”

Ememobong stated: “The foundation of this country is the rule of law, which means power is limited and not absolute. Neither the FCT Minister nor the President has unfettered authority to override fundamental rights.

“Nigerians, whether in political parties or informal groups, have the right to own property, assemble, and associate freely.

“Even unregistered political associations have the constitutional right to meet peacefully. Any attempt to restrict these rights contradicts the Constitution and undermines the principle of the rule of law.”
