The Court of Appeal in the Federal Capital territory has unanimously dismissed the Turaki faction’s appeal to challenge the judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan.
The FHC upheld the Abdulrahman-led Caretaker Committee and declined to acknowledge the Turaki Group executive from the Ibadan convention.
The Federal High court stated that the case was academic in nature and did not raise any relevant issues.
Recall that in January 2026,the Truaki-led PDP faction reassured its members that the party remains legally valid despite a Federal High Court ruling in Ibadan that nullified its Ibadan National Convention.
The court had refused to grant the order of mandamus sought by the party, explaining that granting such relief would amount to sitting in appeal over the decisions of courts of coordinate jurisdiction.
In response, the party said it has instructed its lawyers to immediately file an appeal and take all necessary legal steps to advance its arguments and protect its position.
Following the appeal, the Appeal court also dismissed the case, effectively requiring the INEC to look the other way and not recognize any “result” from that Ibadan gathering.
