Just In: Peter Obi Holds Closed-Door Meeting with Gov Makinde

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde have reportedly held a closed-door meeting.

The meeting according to sources took place  at the Oyo State Government House.

Additionally,  few Igbo elders, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), senators from the South-East, and Obi’s political associates attended the meeting with him.

Although both partied have not yet addressed the media, the meeting may be linked to his presidential ambition.

This latest meeting comes less than a twenty four hours after Obi had a similar closed-door meeting with former president Goodluck Jonathan.

Meanwhile, Obi also raised alarm on X that Nigeria is “a decaying Nation Crying for Leadership”. The ADC chieftain said this in response to the recent violent killings in Adamawa, Katsina and Benue.

BACKSTORY… 

In recent weeks, Mr. Peter Obi has held private talks with a number of key political figures including Rabiu Kwankwanso, Rotimi Amaechi among others.

Observers believe the meetings focus on the upcoming elections and potential partnerships, although the full objectives remain unclear.

Earlier today, the former Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi has disclosed that he held private talks with former President Jonathan in Abuja.

The meeting took place alongside some elders from the South-East at Goodluck Jonathan’s residence in Abuja.

In a statement on X following the meeting, Obi explained that the meeting is a component of his “extensive consultations” with Nigerian leaders about the country’s future and the 2027 general election.

Obi said, “Our discussions were frank, thoughtful, and anchored on the urgent need to reposition Nigeria on the path of unity, security, stability, productivity, and inclusive governance.”

Obi further emphasized that Nigeria needs leaders who are driven by skill, morality, ability, and empathy rather than self-interest.
