The Kwankwasiyya Movement has stated that Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, did not hold any defection discussions with President Bola Tinubu.

The clarification on Kwankwaso was made on Friday by the group’s spokesperson, Habibu Mohammed, during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Mohammed explained that Kwankwaso does not require persuasion or external influence if he ever decides to collaborate with the President, noting that he is fully capable of making such decisions independently.

He further described the relationship between Kwankwaso and President Tinubu as longstanding, adding that both politicians previously worked together in the National Assembly and were among key figures involved in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, President Tinubu had, in the early days of his administration, invited Kwankwaso for a private meeting to explore possible collaboration. However, Kwankwaso reportedly declined the offer.

He also added that before Kwankwaso’s association with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he had already maintained political engagement with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
