Former Kano State governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has completely debunked claims that he is secretly working for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso made the statement while speaking during an interview with Global TV. He also he described those spreading the allegation as people who do not understand politics.
He said, “Only fools will believe that we are working for Tinubu. My supporters and I are working for the NDC and for what we believe will benefit Nigerians.”
The former presidential candidate clarified that while he and Tinubu have a long-standing friendship, this does not mean that their political philosophies are the same.
He claims that although the two guys have been friends for a long time, they are in different political camps.
Additionally, Kwankwaso accused the president’s close associates of keeping him in the dark about the actual status of the nation.
Rabiu Kwankwaso further said that certain presidential advisors are more interested in convincing governors and lawmakers to join the APC than in tackling Nigeria’s economic and security issues.
The NDC leader also spoke about his alliance with Peter Obi in the new political coalition.
Kwankwaso stated that they considered Obi the strongest candidate from southern Nigeria and said they reached the decision to support him after extensive consultations and political calculations.
Furthermore, he said the alliance still has enough time before the 2027 general election to engage with Nigerians and address concerns over what he described as misinformation being circulated about the coalition.
Meanwhile, he explained that the alliance primarily aims to provide Nigerians with quality leadership and practical solutions to the country’s current challenges.
