The Labour Party (LP) has announced that it has rescheduled all its primaries to May 30.

In a statement on Thursday, LP National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa said the party also shifted the 2027 governorship and State Assembly primary elections from May 27.

The party further stated that the presidential and national assembly primaries would be conducted on the same date.

The party said the 2026 Eid el-Kabir celebration and the third anniversary of the current elected public officials led to the postponement of the primaries.

“This decision became necessary following the coincidence of the earlier dates with two important national events,” LP added.

The party also expressed regret over any inconvenience the new date may cause candidates, stakeholders, supporters, and the general public.
