The Labour Party (LP) has announced its timetable and schedule of activities for its 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Labour party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa.
According to the announcement, the party has fixed the cost of its presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at a total of ₦50 million.
Labour Party stated that the timetable complies with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It also noted that the party’s National Leader and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, will receive both his expression of interest and nomination forms free of charge.

The schedule shows that the sale of nomination forms will begin on May 6 and end on May 16, while submission of completed forms will take place between May 17 and May 18.
A breakdown of fees indicates that House of Assembly aspirants will pay ₦3 million, House of Representatives aspirants ₦5 million, senatorial aspirants ₦10 million, and governorship aspirants ₦25 million.
For the presidential race, aspirants are required to pay ₦10 million for the expression of interest form and ₦40 million for the nomination form, bringing the total to ₦50 million.
However, the party granted concessions for women, youths aged 25–30, and persons living with disabilities, who will only pay for expression of interest forms across all categories.
The statement further confirmed that screening for House of Assembly and governorship aspirants will hold on May 20, while National Assembly and presidential aspirants will be screened on May 22. Screening results will be released on May 23.
Appeals and petitions are scheduled for May 24 for state positions and May 25 for National Assembly and presidential aspirants, with the final list of cleared candidates to be published on May 26.
Primaries for House of Assembly and governorship positions will take place on May 27, while National Assembly and presidential primaries are fixed for May 29.
The party also urged aspiring members yet to register to complete its ongoing e-registration process, which closes at midnight on May 4, ahead of submission of its membership register to INEC.
