Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the “Obidient Movement,” voiced hope that Peter Obi will win the presidency of Nigeria in 2027.
Speaking at a symposium in Onitsha, Anambra State, Tanko acknowledged that the Labour Party candidate was not elected in 2023 because of purported electoral fraud, but he also confirmed that the movement will be more ready for the following election cycle.
Tanko described the movement’s increased emphasis on youth empowerment, structure, and mobilization during the one-day event, “Repositioning the Obidient Movement for Greater Impact,” which was hosted by the Obidient Movement and Anambra State Support Groups. He emphasized that if people elect leaders who are dedicated to accountability and good administration, a “new Nigeria” is achievable.

“We are committed to encouraging accountability and sound governance,” Tanko stated. “If we properly organize, Obi has the ability to become president in 2027. Before the general election in 2027, we’ll make sure our agents are well-trained and ready.

Tanko underlined that the movement wants to provide a solid basis for elections that are credible and fair. In his analysis of the 2023 elections, he pointed out that despite accusations of the Labour Party’s lack of political structure, Obi managed to secure a sizable following. But according to Tanko, electoral fraud ruined a fair result.

History won’t be repeated this time. We’ll be well-prepared,” he told the crowd.

The Obidient Movement’s strategy to promote electoral reform through public mobilization and legislative initiatives was also emphasized at the symposium. Tanko clarified that they will present their ideas to the National Assembly and mobilize the populace in support of just electoral procedures in the streets and in the courts.

He claimed that even the North was unhappy with the current administration. “By empowering Nigerian youths and fighting for justice, equity, and significant change, we are dedicated to having a real impact.”

According to Tanko, the Obidient Movement is dedicated to creating a Nigeria where the people’s power is respected and where all citizens can experience true change under the correct leadership.

Arsenal and Chelsea Draw at Stamford Bridge

0

The two rivals couldn’t be separated in a must-watch game of the English Premier League between Chelsea and Arsenal as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The match started with both teams making vicious attacking attempts at each other. In the 32nd minute, Arsenal had their goal disallowed through VAR. Kai Havertz was visibly disappointed at the decision.

The first half was filled with many fouls from Chelsea and the team picked 3 yellow cards just before halftime. Colwill, Neto, and Madueke all picked up a yellow card for Chelsea in the first half.

After many tussles and attempts, a goal was recorded in the second half for Arsenal through Gabriel Martinelli, who put the ball past Sanches at the near post.

Ten minutes later, Chelsea’s most expensive signing in the summer, Pedro Neto fired home a fierce shot with his left foot beating Arsenal’s goalie and into the net. This put the match at 1-1.

Both team coaches made tactical substitutions in a bid to seal the game off with a win. Coach Maresca brought in Enzo Fernández, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Reece James, and Christopher Nkunku. While Arteta brought in Trossard, Mikel Merino, and Gabriel Jesus who came in for the injured Bukayo Saka.

There wasn’t much to separate the two after 80 minutes with both teams missing crucial chances in each other halves.

The match ended in a draw with even ball possession and equal shots on target.

Not much was seen from Martin Odegaard of Arsenal or Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea. It was really a quiet game for both of them, whom the fans felt would have changed the course of the match.

Chelsea remains in 5th position with 18 points and Arsenal in 6th position also with 18 points

Mozilla considers how to bring Firefox back to its previous splendor

Mozilla considers how to bring Firefox back to its previous splendor as it celebrates its 20th birthday.

Mozilla considers how to bring Firefox back to its previous splendor as it celebrates its 20th birthday.

Mozilla began launching version 1.0 of its Firefox browser exactly twenty years ago. It was available for download at the time, or you could purchase a CD-ROM from Mozilla that included a guidebook (or perhaps acquire it on one of those free CDs that came with many publications at the time). Firefox, which sprang from Netscape’s ashes, would eventually capture much over 30% of the global market. However, there was a period of stasis following that, and Firefox gradually lost market share until Google Chrome, which was lighter and faster, came out. The fact that Mozilla at the time seemed to prioritize everything but its browser and that its efforts to develop a mobile browser never really took off didn’t help either.

In spite of everything, Firefox is still going strong and has improved throughout the years. Mozilla must now find a way to put the browser back on a growth trajectory, as it recently stated that it wants to refocus on it.

I spoke with Laura Chambers, the interim CEO of Mozilla, who succeeded Mitchell Baker earlier this year, on the occasion of Firefox’s 20th birthday. Speaking from her Australian home at the time, Chambers told me that one of her first actions upon taking on this position was to “unlock a bunch of money towards Firefox product development.”
“What I adore about Firefox is that it offers users a genuine alternative browser option that is simply truly made for them,” she remarked. “From the beginning to the end, we have genuinely aimed to establish a browser that values privacy above all else, puts people before profit, and gives users that option.

Returning to the growth

Chambers, who formerly held executive positions at PayPal, Skype, Airbnb, and Willow Innovations, stated, “I’ve been in numerous situations where people tend to forget about the core business, and they cease to invest in it, because they get distracted by shiny things [and then they regret it].” “I’m quite adamant that we won’t do that here. Our core is Firefox, which is really crucial. In fact, we have invested more in it this year, focusing on community engagement, introducing and testing great features, and making sure people have a positive experience. That has been a major focus for and for the business this year, and the outcomes reflect that.

Although she admitted that Mozilla lacks the device distribution that many of Firefox’s rivals have, particularly on mobile, she did point out that the European Digital Marks Act (DMA), which requires Apple, for instance, to provide a browser option screen on iOS, is effective.

Super Eagles forward Boniface was demoted following the Liverpool catastrophe in Bochum vs. Leverkusen.

With Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface of the Super Eagles sitting on the bench, German champions Leverkusen lost again.
Nigerian attackers Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface were sidelined in yet another dismal performance for Bayer Leverkusen, which resulted in the team losing important Bundesliga points.
The two made few appearances following a difficult Champions League match against Liverpool, in which Leverkusen lost badly, 4-0.

In their latest Bundesliga fixture against Bochum, Leverkusen managed only a 1-1 draw, further complicating their title aspirations.Boniface, who had been a standout performer earlier in the season, was demoted to the bench following his lacklustre performance at Anfield.

Tella only played 13 minutes in Bochum, but he played 26 minutes off the bench.
Boniface, who had nine goals this season before the Liverpool encounter, came under fire for wasting important opportunities.

His particularly poor performance at Anfield sparked rumors regarding his fitness and form right now.

In an attempt to help Leverkusen overcome their European problems, coach Xabi Alonso decided to start him out of the lineup against Bochum.
Boniface only made a fleeting debut against Bochum, but he was unable to have a big influence, and Leverkusen’s problems persisted as they were unable to win.
They are now behind their competitors in the Bundesliga title race as a result of the draw.

Despite facing difficulties during the game, Nathan Tella was able to contribute more minutes than Boniface.
Even if he was unable to alter the result of the match against Bochum, his position on the right flank has been crucial for Leverkusen this season.
If Boniface and Tella want to assist their side in regaining its winning form, they will both need to get back into their groove.

Fans will be attentively observing how these Super Eagles forwards react in future games as the Bundesliga puts more pressure on them.

“Don’t sleep”, Wizkid shares Forthcoming Album Morayo, dedicated to his late Mum

Nigerian music star Wizkid, also known as Ayodeji Balogun, recently stirred up emotions online with the cover art for his upcoming album, Morayo.

The Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist shared a close-up image of his late mother’s face, marking the album’s cover and giving fans a glimpse into just how personal this project is to him. Along with the image, Wizkid captioned it, “MORAYO Nov. 22,” hinting at the album’s release date and prompting waves of reactions across social media.

Wizkid’s mother, Jane Morayo Balogun, passed away in 2023 at the age of 66, and since then, the artist has been vocal about her significance in his life.

He revealed earlier this year that Morayo, which translates to “I See Joy” in Yoruba, is a tribute to her, stating, “My album ‘Morayo,’ dedicated to my mom, the love of my life, drops very soon. Don’t dull. Don’t sleep.”

With Morayo, fans anticipate a deeply heartfelt album that captures Wizkid’s journey through grief, healing, and the celebration of his mother’s life.

Billboard reports that Morayo will be released under Starboy/Sony Music International/RCA Records, and fans eagerly await what they expect to be a soulful mix of Afrobeats and R&B that has defined Wizkid’s global appeal.

This project holds the potential to further cement Wizkid’s influence on the international music scene, as he merges his unique sound with a deeply personal theme.

The album cover alone has sparked mixed reactions from fans and social media users. Some believe Wizkid is using his mother’s image to tug at fans’ heartstrings, with one commenting, “U want to sell the album for pity because u lost ur mama.” Others, however, appreciate the tribute, with one fan noting, “Their bond must have been so strong. I pray he heals fast. Rest on, Mummy.”

Wizkid’s emotional release has fans on edge, eagerly awaiting the album drop to experience his journey firsthand, and it’s clear that Morayo is more than music to him—it’s a tribute and an enduring symbol of his mother’s impact.

“I’m not gay” – Desmond Elliot responds to allegations

0

Desmond Elliot refutes allegations against him being gay

Nollywood star and politician Desmond Elliot recently set the record straight on rumors about his sexuality, which have been swirling online.

In an interview, Elliot responded to accusations claiming he was gay, calling the rumors “baseless” and explaining why he initially ignored them. He didn’t feel the need to address something that neither added to nor took away from his life.

“Why should I respond to allegations that don’t change my life in any way?” he questioned. “It’s just an opinion, and I don’t think I need to come out to confirm or deny it as long as I’m positively impacting people’s lives.”

Elliot took the opportunity to promote tolerance, emphasizing that while people are free to live as they wish within legal limits, respect for others is key. “If you identify as something, go ahead; it’s your choice within the law,” he said. “But people don’t have to accept it.

As for me, I’m straight… you won’t find anyone straighter than me.” He added that if others wanted to enjoy the spotlight through rumors and publicity, that was their choice, but it wasn’t something that concerned him.

The actor’s statement comes after a Nigerian blog published a list alleging certain male Nigerian celebrities, including Elliot, were gay. This list stirred up reactions across social media, with fans discussing and debating the claims.

However, most of the men listed chose to remain silent, preferring not to engage with the rumors. Elliot’s response addressed the accusations directly and with a bit of humor, signaling he wouldn’t be dragged into unnecessary drama.

He encouraged others to “do you,” but to keep respect and consideration for their neighbors in mind. His comments have sparked discussions on social media about celebrity privacy, public opinions, and personal boundaries.

“chill with the revealing outfit” Portable calls Tiwa out

0

Portable calls Tiwa Savage out for posting pictures in her underwear

Nigerian singer Portable recently stirred up a buzz online after publicly calling out Tiwa Savage for posting photos in her underwear at age 40. In a TikTok livestream, Portable questioned whether it was suitable for Tiwa, a mother, to share such revealing images, especially at this stage of her life.

“I’ve been a fan since I was small, and now I’m a father. Mummy Tiwa Savage is still posting pictures in just panties,” Portable remarked, emphasizing his surprise. “Is it really right for a mom to do that?” Despite the criticism, Portable admitted that Tiwa Savage still “appeals” to him.

He jokingly described her as a “bad girl” who hasn’t lost her charm since her younger years, sharing that meeting her in person was a memorable experience. “When I hugged her, it felt like I hugged a mermaid,” he laughed, adding, “But honestly, someone should tell her to chill with the revealing outfits.”

His comments sparked reactions across social media, dividing fans. While some agreed with his point, others found his delivery inappropriate.

One Instagram user expressed frustration, saying, “What level of disrespect is this?” Meanwhile, another commenter saw his words differently, suggesting that Portable wasn’t being disrespectful but lacked the right approach.

“I don’t think he means any harm,” the commenter wrote. “He just doesn’t have the emotional intelligence to say it right. He’s basically saying Tiwa’s dress sense is ‘fighting temptation’.”

Others dismissed Portable’s criticism entirely, pointing out that Tiwa is an entertainer and deserves creative freedom. “If Nicki Minaj did the same, you wouldn’t be talking,” one person said, brushing off Portable’s concerns.

While Portable’s comments might have been delivered in his typical blunt style, they opened up a conversation on celebrity image, self-expression, and social expectations – a topic that left his fans both laughing and debating.

US announces charges on attempted plot to assassinate Trump

0

US Retaliates with charges on Iranian plot to assassinate Trump

US prosecutors have filed charges in an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump and a well-known Iranian-American dissident journalist.

According to the Justice Department, this plan allegedly came from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), aiming to retaliate for the 2020 US-led killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, ordered by Trump himself.

Farhad Shakeri, a 51-year-old Afghan national believed to be residing in Iran, reportedly took charge of planning the assassination on Trump, who won Tuesday’s US presidential election against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Prosecutors have charged Shakeri, along with two New York-based men, Carlisle Rivera, 49, and Jonathon Loadholt, 36, for also plotting to kill an Iranian-American dissident journalist who criticizes Iran’s regime.

The Justice Department described Shakeri as a key IRGC figure living in Tehran, adding that he once lived in the US but was deported after serving 14 years for robbery.

In recent months, Shakeri allegedly leveraged his network of former criminal associates from his prison days to work with the IRGC, recruiting operatives to carry out surveillance and other assignments targeting IRGC enemies.

Shakeri reportedly revealed the plot to assassinate Trump in phone conversations with FBI agents. He contacted the agents hoping to negotiate a reduced sentence for an incarcerated associate.

During these conversations, he allegedly disclosed that an IRGC official had approached him in September with a specific timeline: Trump’s assassination plan needed to be ready within a week. If not, the IRGC aimed to pursue Trump post-election, assuming his loss would make him a more vulnerable target.

The dissident journalist, speculated to be Masih Alinejad, has previously been targeted in various kidnapping and assassination plots by Iran, though court documents haven’t officially confirmed her identity.

In late October, US prosecutors filed charges against an IRGC general related to yet another plot against Alinejad.

With the recent announcement, US officials emphasize Iran’s ongoing attempts to harm American citizens, including officials and vocal regime critics, despite Iran’s outright denials.

The State Department, meanwhile, has issued a $20 million reward for information leading to the arrest of another Iranian suspect behind an earlier alleged plot targeting former White House official John Bolton.
