Amid ongoing Middle East crisis, United States president, Donald Trump has issued a firm warning to Iran to quickly agree to a peace deal with the US or face devastation.

Trump said on his Truth Social platform on Sunday that “the clock is ticking” for Iran to reach a peace deal, as Washington works to break the deadlock over ending the war.

Meanwhile, US publication ‘Axios’ also reported that Trump is scheduled to meet senior national security advisers on Tuesday to consider possible military action against Iran.

This comes after Saudi Arabia said it intercepted three drones, while a separate drone strike in the United Arab Emirates sparked a fire at a nuclear power plant, which authorities described as a “dangerous escalation” and blamed on Iran or its allies.

Meanwhile, Tehran has called for a long-term ceasefire in Lebanon ahead of any broader peace agreement with Washington.

Despite the fragile ceasefire, Israeli airstrikes killed seven people in Lebanon on Sunday, including an Islamic Jihad commander, according to Lebanese authorities and state media. Hezbollah described the US-brokered negotiations between both sides as a “dead end.”

Similarly, in related development, Iran’s top security agency has  announced the creation of a new organization to manage transit through the Strait of Hormuz, introducing a system that would allow it to charge fees for passage. Under the new framework, vessels deemed hostile by Tehran could be denied access, effectively restricting movement for certain nations.

Taking to its official X handle, the Supreme national security council shared a post for the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) saying it would provide “real‑time updates on the Hormuz Strait operations and latest developments”.
