Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, and his wife, Anjy Luminee, have welcomed a baby boy, a development that has generated mixed reactions across social media.
However, the news also revived public conversations about the actor’s past legal issues, with many users revisiting the controversy surrounding his previous conviction.
Some public figures, including Bobrisky, sent congratulatory messages that attracted criticism from sections of social media users. Actress Moyo Lawal also came under fire for celebrating the couple, though others defended her right to extend goodwill.
Reality TV star Angel Smith questioned Luminee’s decision to remain in the marriage despite the controversies surrounding Baba Ijesha’s conviction. Social media commentator Daniel Regha also weighed in, suggesting that she should have left the marriage following the court ruling at the time.
Despite the backlash, several entertainers and supporters congratulated the couple, including actor Yomi Fabiyi and actress Olayinka Solomon, alongside others who shared positive messages.
The situation has sparked widespread debate online, with opinions divided between those celebrating the newborn and others raising concerns over the actor’s past.
Recall that Baba Ijesha was convicted in 2022 by a Lagos State High Court over sexual assault of a minor and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment. However, the Court of Appeal later overturned the conviction, leading to his release in November 2025.
