The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State has raised concern over the renewed wave of banditry in parts of the state, while also criticising the Federal Government over what it described as insufficient protection of lives and property.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Gusau by the party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary, Murtala Gusau, the state chairman, Surajo Garba Maikatako, expressed condolences to communities affected by recent attacks in Zurmi, Maradun, and Anka Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The party also sympathised with security agencies over the deaths of three police officers killed in an explosion along the Bagega–Anka road.
It said the recurring attacks on communities point to deeper governance and security challenges, stressing the need for stronger and more effective interventions.
The NDC further reacted to comments allegedly made by the state governor during an interview with BBC, where he was reported to have said he never promised to end insecurity during his election campaign.
The party also extended condolences to the Nigeria Police Force and the families of the three Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Describing the incident as tragic, the party urged security agencies to intensify efforts in addressing the worsening insecurity in the state.
