Ifeanyi Okowa, former Delta State governor, announces his defection from PDP to APC.
Delta State’s former governor and Atiku’s presidential running mate in the last elections, Ifeanyi Okowa, has made a shocking defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection follows an entire collapse of the PDP structure into the APC in Delta State. His successor, Sheriff Oborevwori, also announced his defection to the APC earlier on Wednesday.
After a crowded PDP stakeholders meeting in Asaba, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Delta State’s commissioner for information, announced that Governor Sheriff Oborewvori, his predecessor (Okowa), and the entire Delta State’s PDP members will join the APC structure by Monday in Asaba.
He also disclosed that Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, will be available to receive them officially into the party.
While addressing the media, Okowa, in his dialect, said, “Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people.”
