The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has indicated that some Nigerians may call for a constitutional amendment to allow President Bola Tinubu to seek a third term in office.

The monarch made the statement in a congratulatory message marking Tinubu’s 74th birthday, which was conveyed through his spokesperson, Ibrahim Alli.
In the message, he described the president as a decisive leader who has laid a fresh foundation of hope for the country.
“Many Nigerians may beg for a constitutional review for Tinubu to spend more than two terms in office. He is a leader who knows what he is doing,” Oluwo of Iwo said

Oluwo of Iwo praised Tinubu’s leadership style, noting that his administration has taken a firm stance against practices that previously hindered economic growth.
He also pointed to what he described as measurable economic improvements under the current government.
According to him, gains include a stronger naira, an increase in foreign reserves from about $1bn to between $49.5bn and $50.45bn as of late February/March 2026, as well as improved economic indicators.
The monarch attributed these developments to key policy reforms such as exchange rate unification, higher oil production, and increased foreign investment inflows.
