“Peace move” – Matawalle meets aggrieved APC Assembly aspirants in Zamfara amid reconciliation efforts

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has met with 85 All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) House of Assembly aspirants from Zamfara State who were not cleared during the party’s screening exercise.

The meeting, which took place at his residence in Gusau, was aimed at fostering reconciliation within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Matawalle appealed to the aspirants to remain calm, united, and committed to the growth of the APC despite the outcome of the screening process, assuring them that their concerns were being looked into.

The aspirants, led by Sulaiman Shu’aibu Shinkafi, expressed appreciation to the former governor for his leadership approach and efforts to promote unity within the party.

In response, Matawalle stated that the party’s National Working Committee was currently reviewing petitions submitted by dissatisfied aspirants and encouraged them to remain patient as the process continues.

He reiterated that the APC is committed to fairness, justice, and equal opportunities for all members.

He also noted that the government is intensifying efforts to tackle insecurity in parts of the country, including insurgency in the North-East and banditry in the North-West.

Zamfara

The minister praised the aspirants for their maturity and willingness to support the party, describing their cooperation as a positive sign for internal stability.

The engagement formed part of broader consultations aimed at strengthening unity and cohesion within the APC in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Also in attendance were former Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mukhtar Ahmad Anka; former Speakers of the State House of Assembly, Bature Umar Sambo and Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya; APC State Secretary, Ibrahim Maigandi; APC Auditor, Yusuf Idris Gusau, along with other party stakeholders.
