Assembly Speaker Amaewhule expressed, “Our quarters are still new, and we’re not interested in having Fubara here.”
Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, emphasized that the legislative quarters were still new and didn’t require renovation. He expressed surprise at the governor’s uninvited visit and raised concerns about possible demolition plans. Amaewhule stressed that their authority and legitimacy remain intact, citing a Federal High Court judgment affirming his speakership and the membership of the 27 lawmakers. He urged supporters of democracy to intervene and called for restraint from those collaborating with the governor.
