Abiodun: New Mineral Agency Benefits Ogun State.
The Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, clarified that Ogun State’s decision to create a Mineral Resources Agency is to protect the state’s resources and bring order to the mining sector. The agency will identify minerals, conduct geological mapping, and maintain a data bank. This move ensures better land management, avoiding conflicts between mining and other land uses. The agency will also interface with other state departments to prevent future land allocation clashes and help attract investors. Akinmade noted that, like oil-producing states with their own ministries, Ogun’s agency will focus on community development and investment without conflicting with federal regulations.
