Rivers: New sole administrator confirms release of state allocation

The recently appointed sole administrator of Rivers state, Vice Admiral Ibas has verified the release of the states budgetary allocation that was withheld.

Recall that the FCT minister previously gave a directive demanding the central bank governor to withhold the release of funds to the state until the state’s budget was presented by Fubara, the Governor now suspended leading to major political crisis in the state iclusing; Fubara’s suspension and the appointment of  a sole administrator.

In more recent news, the vice admiral has confirmed that the states allocation has been released following his resumption of office. Ibas disclosed this information in a meeting with local government administrator heads in Port Harcourt.

Ibas reassured that the required steps would  be taken to ensure the payment of salaries in the state.

The administrator further described the meeting with local government administrative heads as a “pivotal moment ” in the general efforts to restore peace to the state. He criticized the economic difficulties in the state stressing that in spite of the wealth of resources in the Niger delta region, the people face sufferings.

He stated that this was “unacceptable” emphasizing the need for transformation and accountability. Additionally, he voiced  his concern over the delay of salary payment as a result of the withheld allocation

” I feel the pain of the workers” the administrator stated and assured residents that his administration will ensure payments of salaries without any further delays.
