Atiku Urges Diaspora Nigerians: Don’t Give Up on Nigeria’s Future”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians living abroad to maintain their faith in Nigeria’s future despite the country’s current socio-economic challenges. Speaking during a virtual interactive session with some members of the Nigerian diaspora, Abubakar urged them not to lose hope, stressing that their resilience and contributions are vital for the nation’s progress.

In a statement released by Prof. Gold Emmanuel, Senior Special Assistant for Communications & Intelligence and Diaspora in Atiku’s office, the 2023 PDP Presidential Candidate acknowledged the severe economic difficulties faced by many Nigerians. He pointed out that the rising poverty index and widespread hardship are testing the nation’s endurance. However, he emphasized the importance of perseverance, stating, “I urge you not to give up just yet. Your strength and resilience are crucial to Nigeria’s future.”

Abubakar highlighted the significant role that Nigerians abroad play in shaping the country’s trajectory. With their unique vantage point, they possess a clearer understanding of effective governance and economic management, which can inspire positive change in Nigeria. He encouraged them to continue praying for the country’s deliverance and to actively support the transformation needed to achieve a prosperous future for all.

The former vice-president also commended the diaspora community for their ongoing support to family and friends back home, emphasizing the importance of remittances and investments in sustaining the Nigerian economy. He urged them to remain engaged with their loved ones, promoting peace and unity during these challenging times.

Additionally, Abubakar addressed the issue of detained protesters in Nigeria, calling on the Federal Government to release those charged with treason. He argued that the right to protest government policies is constitutionally protected and should not be infringed upon. “I will advise the government to release these young Nigerians without trial immediately,” he asserted.

In conclusion, Atiku appealed to Nigerians in the diaspora to continue using civilized strategies to advocate for positive changes in government policies. He encouraged them to keep supporting Nigeria and to showcase the nation’s potential on the global stage, emphasizing that collective effort can overcome the current difficulties and lead to a brighter future for all.
