Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara made his first public appearance on Sunday since being reinstated on Wednesday. The governor urged the church and residents of the state to remain steadfast in prayers as he resumes the journey of governance
Fubara made the plea on Sunday at a Thanksgiving ceremony at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Opobo Town, the state’s headquarters for the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area. This was his first public appearance since returning to work.
According to the reinstated governor, the purpose of the service was to express gratitude to God, the state’s citizens, and the Church for their prayers.
Recounting the event on X, Fubara wrote: “In thanksgiving and to glorify God Almighty for His boundless mercy, divine guidance and steadfast love, my wife and I had the honour of worshipping at our home church, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Opobo Kingdom.
“The service was also a moment to sincerely appreciate the church and the good people of Rivers State, whose fervent prayers remain our reservoir of strength and courage on this journey of service.

“As we commemorate International Peace Day today, we will continue to walk together in harmony, guided by faith, unity and a sense of purpose. To God alone be the glory.”
Fubara who was suspended for six months by President Bola Tinubu was reinstated on Wednesday but was however absent on Thursday, stirring serious concerns among Rivers stakeholders.
Venerable Emmanuel Nwuju, vicar of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, offered special prayers during the church service for the First Family, the administration’s success, and the peace and prosperity of Nigeria and Rivers State.
