2027 polls: North-Central stakeholders call for Shettima's removal
President Bola Tinubu has been urged by party stakeholders from the North-Central zone to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima as his 2027 running mate.

They stated that if the President wants the support of the stakeholders for his reelection in 2027, then Tinubu would have to replace Shettima by pick his running mate from their zone.

In order to achieve this agenda, the stakeholders have began consulting with prominent politicians and retired public servants.

On Saturday, the stakeholders met behind closed doors with former National Security Advisor Gen. Aliyu Gusau (retd), the Onah of Abaji, His Royal Highness Musa Yunusa, former lawmaker Senator John Danboyi, and other unnamed people to advance the North Central presidency’s agenda.

This was revealed in a statement provided issued by Prof. Nghargbu K’tso, the delegation’s leader and chairman of the North-Central Renaissance Movement.

The statement read, “The North Central is strengthening advocacy for the return of presidency to the zone come 2027 through high-level consultations with prominent figures in the geo-political zone and Nigeria at large.”

“We appealed for the cooperation of Nigerians to make the agitation a reality and put the region in the equation of other zones who have enjoyed the constitutional right of producing president and vice president in Nigeria as the zone has what it takes to lead rather than to be led all the times.”

This move to demand that  Shettima’s be removed comes only two days after a press conference in which hundreds of regional party leaders and stakeholders declared their commitment to collaborating to produce the next president following 65 years of marginalization.
