Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Poverty Reduction and Humanitarian Affairs
The Designated Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has a long history in public service, academia, and technology. In addition to his advanced degrees, which include a Master’s and Ph.D. in Digital Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, he has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. He has taught and conducted research for more than 25 years, and his areas of specialization include renewable energy, sustainable development, and software engineering.

In addition to being the Director of ICT at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Prof. Yilwatda has consulted on a number of international development projects, including as the PAWA 774 Project, UNICEF’s alternative energy programs, and ICT reforms. He promoted voting rights for internally displaced people (IDPs) after being appointed an INEC Commissioner in 2017.
A licensed engineer and in addition to being a member of numerous professional associations, Prof. Yilwatda entered politics by running for governor of Plateau State in 2023 on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is an important person in the growth of the country because of his broad background in governance, technology, and education.
Industry, Trade, and Investment Minister Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Trade and Investment)
A renowned policy entrepreneur and legal scholar with an outstanding educational background is Dr. Jumoke Oduwole. In 1998, she graduated with an L.L.B. from the University of Lagos, and in 2000, as a DFID-Cambridge Commonwealth Trust scholar, she obtained an LL.M. in Commercial Law from Cambridge University.
She graduated from Stanford University with a master’s degree in international legal studies in 2007 and went on to Stanford Law School to earn a Ph.D. in international trade and development with an emphasis on WTO negotiation strategy.
Dr. Oduwole has served in a number of leadership positions across her career, including serving on the executive committee of the Oxbridge Club of Nigeria and as co-president of the Stanford Alumni Club of Nigeria. She was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade & Investment, where she assisted in the establishment of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations, prior to her appointment as Special Adviser to the Nigerian President on Ease of Doing Business.
She spearheads initiatives to enhance Nigeria’s business climate through smart policy reforms in her capacity as Executive Secretary of the Presidential Enabling Business Council. As the sole African member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council and a member of the Executive Council of the Society of International Economic Law, Dr. Oduwole has also made a substantial contribution to international economic law.
Along with her professional achievements, she has been active in a number of non-governmental organizations, such as Positive Action for Treatment Access, and has received recognition for her services to African development from the African Leadership Network. She also enjoys taking street photos, which she has displayed in exhibitions in Lagos and the Netherlands.
