Senator Gabriel Suswam, the former governor of Benue State, has issued a warning that if the party’s leaders do not take significant action to address its issues, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) may disintegrate before the 2027 elections.
Additionally, the party recently saw a wave of defections as a result of former PDP leaders and members joining the All Progressives Congress, including Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and his immediate predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, . This marked a watershed in the state’s political history.

Suswam stated that the party is in a crisis state during his appearance on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Tuesday.
He clarified that a lot of members had given up and think the party may not make it.
According to Suswam, PDP governors and former governors, under the leadership of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, may be able to save the party.

He said, “Whether there is light at the end of the tunnel in the efforts made by Senator Saraki will be seen in the next two weeks. For now, I would say that PDP is it in the hospital? Yes. Is it in the ICU to some extent? Yes, it is. Can it be rescued? Yes, if the proper medicine is applied.”

Meanwhile, the APC national chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, yesterday, stated that the destruction of Peoples Democratic Party is imminent.
