Police arrest legislative aide to Ndume, 2 others in Borno.
The Borno State Police Command, led by CP Yusufu Lawal, has arrested Usman Aliyu (Babandi), a legislative aide to Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, along with two others, Mallam Ibrahim Adamu and Alhaji Tasiu Hassan Malgwi. The arrests occurred in Biu local government area of Southern Borno, reportedly to prevent a planned solidarity rally supporting Senator Ndume, who was recently removed from his position as Chief Whip in the Senate. The rally was canceled due to security concerns and potential conflicts with a proposed nationwide protest. The police have secured a court order to detain the three individuals while investigations continue. The arrest has caused tension among Ndume’s supporters.
