The political factions of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, are set to clash on February 10 in five distinct cases they have filed against one another at the Supreme Court.
On Monday, both camps escalated their legal disputes over sharp disagreements related to Rivers State issues to the highest court, where a total of five separate cases they initiated against each other were identified and scheduled for resolution on February 10.

A panel of five justices at the apex court, headed by Justice Uwani Musa Aba-Aji, ordered a postponement of the cases to allow the parties involved to prepare and serve the necessary legal documents for their respective appeals.
In order to facilitate a more straightforward determination, the court ordered the consolidation of four of the appeals after a request was made by the counsel for the appellants, Joseph Daudu, SAN, who represented the Wike faction.
The consolidated appeals for the purpose of streamlined hearings include: SC/CV/1174/2024, which involves the Rivers State House of Assembly and others against the Rivers State Government and nine additional parties; SC/CV/1175/2024, which involves the Rivers State House of Assembly and others against the Rivers State Governor and nine additional parties; SC/CV/1176/2024, which involves the Rivers State House of Assembly and others against the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and nine additional parties; and SC/CV/1177/2024, which involves the Rivers State House of Assembly and others against the Accountant General of Rivers State and nine additional parties.
Earlier, in response to a request for withdrawal of a cross-appeal submitted on November 18, 2024, in SC/CV/1071A/2024, which features the Rivers State House of Assembly and others against the National Assembly and sixteen others, Justice Aba-Aji stated that the hearing has been scheduled for February 10, 2025.
