Speaking during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television on Wednesday, Shittu also dismissed concerns about the influence of the widely discussed “Obi factor,” stating it would not impact the election outcome.
“And today, if you know the amount of votes that will be coming from even the South East for APC, you’ll be shocked,” he said.
The Oyo-born politician also stated that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was gaining ground in the region, pointing to the influence of a key figure of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, whom he credited with swaying sentiment in favour of Tinubu.
“Even the people from the South East, with the efforts of people like Dave Umahi and so many others, a lot of people are getting convinced to come the Tinubu route,” Shittu added.
Shittu dismissed the notion that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, would remain a factor in the region.
“It doesn’t matter. What is important is for Tinubu to win. Even if to win by 10 votes, I can assure you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to win,” Shittu stated.
