The protesters, who were allegedly selected from the state’s 57 Local Council Development Areas, or LCDAs, gathered at the Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja, brandishing signs that said, “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Demand New Leadership.”

The demonstrators expressed their displeasure with the current leadership and demanded a reorganisation of the state party system in front of future elections.

Police officers were heavily present at the Assembly to keep the demonstration orderly and to stop it from turning violent or upsetting the peace.
