Soludo will not return as governor in November- Moghalu makes confident claims

George Moghalu, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor of Anambra State, has stated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is aware that he would not be re-elected in the upcoming election on November 8.

According to Moghalu, who remembers running for governor for the first time in 2003 under the now-defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Soludo backed him at the time and even gave him money for his campaign.

He mentioned that he received over 179,000 votes in that election, second only to Peter Obi’s 230,000, and said the gesture showed that Soludo had faith in his ability to lead and win elections.

He went on to say that the governor’s attempt to get re-elected will be hampered by Soludo’s performance in office and the Labour Party’s increasing popularity in the state.

Moghalu said: “In 2003 when I first ran for Governor under the platform of ANPP, the Governor Soludo did support me and even donated generously to my campaign – this shows he believes not just in my ability to govern but also in my capacity to win the election. I went on to score 179,000+ votes second only to HE Peter Obi @PeterObi who scored 230,000+ votes in the election

“Governor Soludo more than everyone else on the ballot knows my capacity not just as an administrator but as a politician

“So deep down, he knows that he will not return as a Governor after the November 8 election largely because of the acceptability of our party in the state and his poor performance but most importantly because of my personal capacity to match and surpass him on the field.”
