Arsenal nears agreement for second season signing
Arsenal is reportedly nearing a deal for their second signing of the season, targeting Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. Despite interest from other top European clubs including Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Napoli, Arsenal has emerged as the frontrunner due to what is described as an “intriguing project and offer” presented to both Bologna and the player himself.
Calafiori, aged 22, has impressed observers during the 2024 European tournament despite Italy’s elimination in the round of 16. Arsenal’s pursuit is advancing, with negotiations reaching an advanced stage. The Gunners are expected to submit an official proposal soon, aiming to finalize a long-term contract that could extend until the 2028–2029 season.
Chelsea remains interested but is reportedly trailing Arsenal in the race for Calafiori’s signature. Arsenal’s proactive approach seems to have positioned them favorably in securing the defender amid competitive interest from other clubs.
