AI Revolution: Gemini Becomes Google’s 2025 Core Focus
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, said to the employees that the company would be putting up a great fight for the year 2025. CNBC reports that it has the audio from a strategy meeting on December 18, where Pichai and other executives donned ugly holiday sweaters and talked about plans for the next year.
“I think it’s really important we internalize the urgency of this moment, and need to move faster as a company,” he said, adding that, “the stakes are high.” In other words, he believes 2025 marks a point at which things get critical.
The high stakes moment happens to be one where such tech giants like Google have sunk a whole bunch of money into AI with mixed results. According to Pichai, the company still has much to catch up on the AI front: “We need to do some work in 2025 to close that gap and establish a leadership position there as well,” as he defined the Gemini application, based on the company’s AI model with the same name, as having “strong momentum. ”
“Scaling Gemini on the consumer side will be our biggest focus next year,” he stated.
