The nonprofit Access Now offers a digital security helpline that can connect you to an expert.
Another essential step is enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) on all your accounts, especially critical ones like email, banking, and social media. A useful directory provides instructions on enabling MFA on over 1,000 websites. Additionally, consider using a physical security key or a passkey stored in your password manager for added protection against phishing and malware.
For Gmail users, if you suspect unauthorized access, scroll down to the “Last account activity” section at the bottom right of your inbox. Click on “Details” to view all locations where your account is active. This can help you identify any suspicious activity.
