Mark Zuckerberg’s tech company Meta has announced plans to review Facebook, Instagram, and Thread’s policies ahead of President Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.
This was announced in a video by Mark Zuckerberg, which stated that the social media company will revise its hate speech guidelines to allow users to describe LGBTQ people as mentally ill.
This decision reached will have an effect on billions of users on social media platforms, where there would be less fact-checking and more community notes just like Elon’s X.
A statement from the revised guidelines state: “We do allow allegations of mental illness or abnormality when based on gender or sexual orientation, given political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality and common non-serious usage of words like ‘weird.”
