President Donald Trump has launched a public poll on whether artificial intelligence should be rebranded with a new name.
In a post on X on Saturday, Trump proposed three alternative terms to “Artificial Intelligence”: Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence, and Supreme Intelligence.
He argued that the phrase “Artificial Intelligence” fails to accurately or gracefully describe the capabilities of the technology.
“Many people think that the words ‘Artificial Intelligence’ are inaccurate, and very ineloquent, relative to AI,
“A far more elegant and accurate description of this new phenomena would be Superior Intelligence (SI) or, Extreme Intelligence (EI) or, Supreme Intelligence (SI),” he wrote.
Trump subsequently invited the public to vote on the most suitable name for what he described as an ever-expanding “Revolution.”
The poll options allow participants to choose between Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence, and Supreme Intelligence.
Trump has frequently addressed AI, highlighting its growing applications across technology, business, and government operations.
Trump says US will form ‘AI Force’
In a separate post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump said he planned to create an artificial intelligence “AI Force” and appoint an AI “Czar” to accelerate the technology’s development in the US.
Trump said the new initiative would model itself on the Space Force, which he claimed his administration created during his first term.
Trump also criticised opponents of AI and said he would not tolerate efforts to undermine the industry.
In a post on his Truth social handle, he said his administration “will not in any way hinder or stifle the growth” of the industry,
“And I, as President of the United States, will not stand by and let this happen,” he wrote.

President Donald Trump’s suggestion to rename “artificial intelligence” arises during a resurfaced national debate in the United States concerning the velocity of the technology’s development and the potential necessity for more stringent regulatory guardrails.
The debate intensified on September 12 when Dario Amodei, chief executive of AI company Anthropic, publicly called for the industry to slow the pace of AI development. Amodei argued that AI capabilities were advancing so quickly that safety measures could struggle to keep up.
He proposed independent third-party evaluations of advanced AI systems and greater cooperation among democratic governments on safety standards.
