Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade have arrested two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons, ammunition and other items during a night operation in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The acting spokesperson for the operation, Yusuf Mohammed, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to Mohammed, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to stop criminal elements from moving and operating freely within the area.
He said the troops came across and apprehended the two suspects at about 1:50 a.m. while on a routine patrol in the locality.

Zamfara State has remained one of the areas most affected by banditry and terrorist activities in northwestern Nigeria, with security forces continuing operations to curb attacks, arrest suspected criminals and recover illegal weapons. The latest operation by troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade is part of ongoing efforts to improve security and prevent criminal groups from operating freely in the state.
