2027: ‘Let’s go to primaries, you don’t believe in zoning’ – Amaechi fires bold, explosive, controversial jab at Atiku.

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to allow the party primaries decide the candidate, following Atiku’s rejection of zoning.

Amaechi made the remark on Monday during an interview on Trust TV, where he expressed confidence ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primary election.

He stated that this could be the first time Atiku would experience defeat in a primary contest.

According to him, Atiku has consistently won party primaries in the past but has never secured a general election victory.

Amaechi said, “Atiku said he does not like zoning, so let’s go to primaries.

“I listen when he said he has never failed in primaries before. I hope this will be the first time he fails in the primaries.

“That is not the issue; the issue is that every time he has won the primaries, he has not won the election.

“While speaking with my colleagues and brothers in the North, we should avoid North-South politics. It is unnecessary. I don’t support it and I will not support it.

“I prefer to emulate former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is a nationalist. You may not like him, but he governed Nigeria as a Nigerian President, not a Yoruba President.”

When asked about his reaction if aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen steps down for Atiku, Amaechi simply wished them well.
