2027: Soludo Warns Anambra Voters of Consequences for Rejecting Tinubu

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has cautioned voters in the state regarding the developmental consequences of failing to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

In a video address to supporters, Soludo stated that state electors risk losing crucial federal backing if they do not align with the governing party.

Addressing the state’s environmental challenges, the governor asserted that the severe gully erosion threatening various communities exceeds the financial and operational capacity of the state government alone.

Soludo emphasized that sustained federal intervention is essential to execute large-scale erosion control measures and key infrastructural developments across Anambra, framing political alignment with the Tinubu administration as a strategic necessity for the state’s future.

He said: “The erosion happening in Anambra is beyond the state’s capacity. It requires federal intervention, and that is why we need to vote for Tinubu.

“If we fail to vote for President Tinubu, there will be consequence and you will lose something.”

Backstory…

The governor’s position became more explicit in March 2026, shortly after his inauguration for a second term, when he said APGA would not field a presidential candidate and declared support for Tinubu’s re-election.

He argued that the South-East needed a stake in the government at the centre rather than concentrating its votes on candidates who might not win.

In July, Soludo praised Tinubu after the President approved two federal road projects in Anambra for design and procurement.

The proposed roads include the Otuocha–Anam–Abaji route linking Anambra to Kogi State and the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube Road, which crosses several South-East states. Soludo presented the approvals as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to regional infrastructure development.

Recall that on October 5, the Anambra State Government urged voters to reject Obi, accusing him of undermining APGA after leaving the party in 2014. Obi’s camp rejected the attacks and challenged Soludo’s administration to account for its governance and spending.
