A total sum of N8 billion for infrastructural development at the newly established Kogi State University, Kabba (KOSUK) has just been approved by the Kogi state government.

The approval came during NAN’s interview with Kogi state governor, Ahmed Ododo, in Lokoja on Saturday.

The approved funds will mainly go into the construction of critical facilities at the university, as well as male and female hostels. This was revealed by Mr. Wemi Jones, the state’s Commissioner for Education.

Without haste, the contractors who bid and won the contract for the construction have been financially mobilized to the construction sites with an ultimatum to start working within the next two weeks.

This move confirms the State’s dedication to advance the education sector through substantial investments and policy commitments.

Mr. Wemi Jones, the state’s Commissioner for Education, has this to say:

“Kogi State Government has been servicing education very monumentally, and the present administration of Gov. Ahmed Ododo is resolved to maintain and surpass the budgetary allocation of 30% to education.”

Governor Ododo also made further approvals in favor of the education sector by approving a total of N316 million in bursary payments to 8,750 Indigenous Kogi students in all tertiary institutions.

The governor made the news in a positive light after he approved over N600 million to cover WAEC fees for 18,734 public school students. This is somewhat 50% more than what his predecessor approved in his time.
