19-Year-Old Peller Regrets Calling Runtown ‘Upcoming’
In an apparent attempt to mitigate damage, popular Nigerian TikToker Peller once again took to social media to apologize in public to superstar Afrobeats singer Runtown for calling Runtown an ‘upcoming act’ in the course of a live session.
The other member in the recent livestream suggested Runtown for a collabo, but Peller rejected it, stating he preferred to call on an artist who was ‘bigger’.
He is quoted: “Wetin be Runtown? That one never blow. We no know am. Give me another person. Who is that? Runtown? Don’t bring upcoming artists on my live video. Na artistes wey don blow well well I want.”
This did not sit well with many online activists, who kicked Peller butt since they interpreted the words as derogatory to the Mad Over You hitmaker, one of the greatest sound innovators in Afrobeats history.

Douglas Jack Agu (born on 19 August 1989) is popularly known as Runtown. An artist from Nigeria, he is a singer as well as a songwriter and producer. His music combines Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, and reggae. The song “Gallardo (2014)” featuring Davido made him popular at first. Another song that gained Runtown international fame was the widely popular “Mad Over You,” which was released in 2016. The song also saw a remix by Nigerian-Bajan artist Mr Eazi.

“Mad Over You” was from Runtown’s debut studio album, Soundgod Fest Vol. 1, and debuted at number 38 on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart, entering the singer’s listing.
Runtown was born on August 19th, 1989 in Enugu, the capital city of Enugu State in the southeastern part of Nigeria but spent part of his life growing up in Abuja the federal capital territory of Nigeria and in Lagos State in southwestern Nigeria where he completed his primary education.
After the death of his father, he shifted to Abuja with his mother, who was working in the Ministry of Health

His response was for people, mostly older people, to cool their jets on him, considering that he turned 19 very recently. He added that he was just a kid who stressed that eleven or twelve years back, when Runtown was in his speak, he was not even using a phone.
He equally sought the forgiveness of Runtown’s fans and stated that the artist’s manager had been in touch with him about using his sound but was unsure who Runtown was.
