The Department of State Services (DSS) had earlier, on February 27, arraigned the duo on a five-count charge relating to terrorism-related offences and illegal firearms possession.

At the previous hearing, the presiding judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, granted the defendants Abdulaziz Malami bail and adjourned the matter to March 4.

When the case resumed on Wednesday, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, informed the court that his office had recently taken over the case from the DSS and needed time to review the details.

The DPP also opposed an application by counsel to the Malamis seeking to have the case struck out, describing the request as premature and urging the court to reject it.

After listening to submissions from both parties, Justice Abdulmalik adjourned Abdulaziz Malami the matter to March 10 for the prosecution to formally begin its case.
